The government of Africa's biggest economy has tried for months to negotiate a US trade deal but failed to reach agreement before Trump's deadline. "Cabinet has approved that South Africa submits a revised offer as a basis for negotiations with the US," Parks Tau told a press conference. The revised offer was expected to be submitted on Tuesday, he said. Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen had previously said that Trump's team felt South Africa's initial offer for a trade deal was not ambitious enough.
