Miriam Ann Carroll, 92, Plainville passed away peacefully at home Saturday, May 3, 2025. She was born in Pike County
October 25, 1932 to Wilber and Rose (Powell) Norton.
Miriam was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School. On April 4, 1951 she married the love of her life John Carroll. She was a member of the Cornettsville Church, Eastern Star, Get Together Homemakers Club and Walk to Emmaus Community. Besides being a farmers wife, Miriam worked Fabrific Fabric Store, the Wardrobe Clothing Store and did alterations for many years in Washington.
She took great pride in her family. Miriam is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John; daughter Mary Dee Ryan; parents; brothers Jack Norton (Barbara), Tom Norton (Mary), and sister Martha Mallett. She is survived by children Janet Eaton (Dennie), Becky Eaton (Terry), Kim Coors (Tom), John Carroll (Carol), son-in-law Ed Ryan and brother-in-law Bud Mallett. Miriam was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends may visit with Miriam's family 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2024 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, Washington. Miriam will be laid to rest in Plainville Cemetery next to her husband John. The Carroll family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Helping Hearts Hospice or Daviess County 4-H Foundation. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Miriam and her family.
