Duty Free World said the program was conceived as a test two years ago in conjunction with the traditional onboard program and that the advanced program has continuously evolved to meet the needs of the travelling customer. This latest development follows a United Airlines message to employees published last Friday on the website of industry intelligence platform SKIFT, which indicated the decision to stop selling duty-free was based on declining sales revenue for the airline and concessionaire. Duty Free World vice-president and COO Leylani Cardoso said: “Technology is changing retail dynamics in ways that open additional opportunities for concessionaires. Duty Free World has always been on the forefront when it comes to offering enhanced services to passengers. We look forward to providing additional information in the near future about additional exciting advancements currently being developed.”
