Queen Letizia and King Felipe of Spain visited the Pyramids of Giza during their first official State Visit to Egypt this week, part of a four-day trip to the north African nation. The Spanish queen also opened a photography exhibition featuring the work of Egyptian artist Mohamed Mahdy and Spanish photographer Laura Silleras, and toured the foundation’s craft workshops. The King met separately with Spanish and Egyptian business leaders and inaugurated the Spain-Egypt Business Forum in Cairo. The King and Queen are spending two days in Cairo before they embark on a visit to Luxor. The next leg of the trip will mark the first official trip to the southern Egyptian city by Spanish monarchs since King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia went in 2008.
