Outlander: Blood of My Blood is currently airing on Starz, and if it has you looking up plane tickets to Edinburgh, you’re not alone. In fact, the “ Outlander Effect ” on Scottish tourism is a real thing, especially among American and Canadian tourists who want to visit the real-life historical sites and landscapes that feature prominently in Diana Gabaldon’s time traveling universe. With the new prequel series, the Starz production has returned to Edinburgh, Inverness, and many sites throughout the Scottish Highlands. And, of course, there are many new locations as well. “Blood of My Blood has been a wonderful opportunity to showcase the magical geography of Scotland,” production designer Mike Gunn wrote in the show notes.
