It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Norman James Armstrong.
Norman is predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Annie Marion Armstrong (McDonald) (2013), as well as his siblings Isobel, Blair, Jean, Ruth, Ralph and Barbara.
Norman is survived by his loving children Sheree, Andy, and Marnie; his grandchildren Keely, Jessie, Clare, Clayton, Ian, Paislie, Darian, and Rylie; and his great-grandchildren Conner, Wylie, Buster, and Annie; as well as sisters Phyllis, Betty and Janice, and many other family, friends and neighbours.
Born in Drayton, Ontario, Norman worked on lake boats for 9 years and in 1951 he acquired his First Mates Certificate. In 1954 he married the love of his life, Annie McDonald in Guelph. He joined the Guelph Fire Department in 1958 and worked through the ranks becoming Platoon Chief before mandatory retirement in 1990. He has been an active member of the Masonic Speed Lodge for over 60 years. Because of Annie and Norman's personal friendship with Patsy Cline and Charlie Dick and family, he was also an honorary life member of the Always Patsy Cline Fan Club and developed many lifelong relationships with members.
Cremation has taken place. Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held for family members at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051/www.wallcustance.com).
