It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Egidio Luigi Romanello on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Villa Forum Long Term Care in Mississauga. We are grateful that he lived 97 years and continued to smile and joke till the end. Beloved husband of Felicetta for 66 years. Loving father of Mirella (Mauro), Philip (Nancy) and Valerie (Rene). Proud grand-father of Simon, Stefano, Philip, Louis, Jenna, Alex, and Kason. Cherished brother of Maria. Predeceased by his parents, Filippo and Cristina, and siblings, Ulisse, Rina, Aldo, Giovanni, Remo, and Roma. Egidio will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Born on Christmas Day in Basaldella Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, he was the youngest of eight children. He was a very hard working, supportive husband and father, retiring after many years as a mechanic at Fiberglass Owen Corning in Guelph, ON. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether that was working in his big vegetable garden, tending to his chickens and rabbits, his pet dog and flowers, or making wine and salami. He also enjoyed creating pieces with welding metal. He had fun joking with people and loved to dance. We are very appreciative for the supportive, loving emp-loyees at Villa Forum Long Term Care home in Mississauga, who helped take care of him for the last five years. Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 2473 Thorn Lodge Drive, Mississauga on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. If desired, donations can be made in memory of Egidio, to the Arthritis Society Canada and Alzheimer Society Canada and are greatly appreciated by the family.
