With great sadness we announce the passing of John (Jack) Corridan Campbell in his 87th year at Hospice Wellington. Jack was a devo-ted husband to his wife Patte for 62 years, a proud father of Christopher Campbell and Jacqueline Scott (David, 2015), and adored grandfather of Emily Scott, Lindsay Scott, and Mackenzie Campbell. Jack was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was proud of his Maritime roots, history, and extended family connections, and always kept Cape Breton close to his heart. He was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish. He received his M.S.W from Wilfrid Laurier University as a member of its first Master of Social Work graduating class when it was still known as Waterloo Lutheran. Jack was always a champion of social justice and helping those in need and it determined the course of his life. As a young adult he was appointed to the first Prince Edward Island Housing Comm-ission and introduced a coop-erative housing movement, that within two years, resulted in over 100 completed homes across the province. Many years later he revisited PEI and took great pleasure in seeing those homes well-kept in thriv-ing neighbourhoods. Profess-ionally he worked for the Children's Aid Society in Guelph and Toronto. He also worked in criminal and voca-tional rehabilitation, taught Social Work at Niagara College, and was the first Executive Director of Big Brothers when it began in Guelph. On a personal level, he was never without a smile and loved to talk about his army days, sports, politics and world events. He had a knack for meeting complete strangers and in ten minutes coming away with their life story. As a family, we often teased him about that. Thanks to everyone who helped during Jack's illness, especially Dr. David Schieck for his help through the years, Tori Tompkins from Care Partners who brightened our days with her care, compassion, and warm person-ality. To Hospice Wellington, there are no words to adequately describe your empathy and outstanding staff who cared for all of us as a family. You are such an asset in our community. Finally, thanks to Jack's coffee group who had one last coffee with him at Hospice. It meant so much to him to see you all. [font=font158592]He will not again see the see the sun rise in the east, Or the moon in all its brightness in the night sky, Nor feel the wind on his face, Nor the earth beneath his feet. He is going home.
