Jul 18, 1939 - Oct 17, 2023 JUDITH ARLENE MURPHY (née Dietrich) July 18, 1939 - October 17, 2023 Judy Murphy passed peacefully at home, on October 17th, surrounded by her three daughters; beloved sister, Marilyn (Nadorozny); and grandchildren. Judy was a force of laughter and light - an incredibly loving and thoughtful mother, a caring and devoted sister, and an endearing friend. A nurse and teacher by training from St. Michael's at University of Toronto, Judy was an intelligent, practical and elegant woman. Since the passing of her late husband, Guelph lawyer and longtime city councilor Hayes, of over 50 years in 2022, Judy has enjoyed spending time with her cherished friends and daughters, Paula (Chris Murphy Ives), Colleen (Matt White) and physician Johanna Murphy (Jake Wilson). Judy's memory and spirit of fun, adventure, kindness and friendship will be carried forward by her many grandchildren - in Toronto, Alexander (Sacha), Sebastian, Marie-Clémence (Clé Clé) and Emmanuelle (Emmi); in England, Grace, Elliot, Tearna and, angel, Felix; and in Kingston, Magdalene and Alice. She will miss her friends, especially from her nursing days at University of Toronto and St. Michael's, her Beta Sigma Phi sisters of over 50 years, her book clubs, church and Catholic school communities from St. Joseph's, neighbours from Maplewood Drive, her childhood in Sudbury, Ontario, and work in Hawaii. The family will be celebrating Judy's life in Guelph on August 25, 2024 with details to follow. The family would welcome a donation to a local cancer Charity of Your Choice or in the UK, Solving Kids Cancer, that helps children like her Jedi Knight grandson, Felix. The family is grateful to her many friends and extended family for their love and kindness for which Judy was deeply grateful.
