With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we said goodbye to our Papi, Fred von Heyking. Before reaching his 100th birthday he expressed his readiness to join the love of his life, Renate, who left us 25 years ago. His lifetime of hard work, and in later years recreational activities kept him strong. The two most important things in his life were his family, and St John Lutheran Church. Finally, in his 101st year he crossed the finish line of an amazing journey. We will always remember him as a loving father with a great sense of humour. He leaves behind his 7 children: Marianne (Mike) Kraemer, Margrit (Bob) Hart, Rolf (Audrey) von Heyking, Marlen Boisvenue, Susanne von Heyking, Elisabeth Martin, Helen (Pat) Paret. Opa will be remembered with deep love and respect by 16 grandchildren and 18+ great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother, Rolf von Heyking (2012) and special childhood friend, Helga Tusche, who offered healing and companionship after the untimely loss of his beloved wife Renate. Our thanks to the staff at University Gates and especially at Hospice Waterloo Region for their compassionate loving care. Cremation will have taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, 4260 Hessen Strasse, Wellesley. A private family interment will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Wellesley.
