Aug 31, 1948 - Jun 6, 2023 Barbara Rattray Halliday Bennett 1948-2023 With great sadness we announce that Barbara Rattray Halliday Bennett, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and daughter, died surrounded by her family at Hospice Wellington in Guelph on June 6, 2023, with cremation occurring days afterward. Barbara is deeply missed by her husband William, and children Jennifer and Jeffrey and son-in-law Scott, her grandchildren Saoirse, Ella, Lukas and Miles, and her 3 sisters, Patricia, Gail and Nancy and sister-in-law Marilyn, and their families. Barbara was born to WWII veteran Kenneth Halliday and his Edinburgh war bride May Robertson, and she grew up in Toronto. Barbara graduated from the William Osler School of Nursing and she cared for many people beyond her family and friends throughout her nursing career at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parry Sound and later footcare nursing, Therapeutic Touch and as a hospice volunteer. Barbara is remembered for her love of the natural world and her passion for music and singing. She took part in many different choral pursuits including Trinity Anglican Church and the Parry Sound Choral Society and most recently the Silvertones Choir in Guelph. Barbara contributed much vitality to the communities of Parry Sound, Dunchurch and Guelph. An Afternoon Memorial for Barbara will be held at the Dunchurch Legion Branch #394 at 2130 Balsam Road and Hwy 124 from 1:00-4:00pm Saturday June 8th.
