Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Brightshores Health System, Markdale, of Eugenia in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Nancy McDowell (nee Harrison). Loving father of Michael (Stacey) of Stayner, Richard (Rowena) of Tottenham, Kari (Sean) Porter of Acton and Karen of Wasaga Beach. Cherished grandfather of Cayleigh (Anthony), Abby (Merric), Wyatt, Lincoln, Layla, Mackenzie and Emily. Proud great grandfather of Jaxon. Dear brother of Douglas (Loraine) of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his parents, George and Verna Moore, siblings, Murray, Arlene Robertson, Ardell Munro and Harry. Survived by sister in-law, Anna Moore and brother in-law, Raeburn Munro. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Al was born February 1, 1948, in Owen Sound Ontario. After a childhood in Owen Sound and school, he found himself working as a machinist in different positions, one being Johnson and Johnson. Later he took a job at Imperial Tobacco in Guelph, where he worked for over 20 years until his retirement. Al could make anything; a true Jack of All Trades! He met the love of his life Nancy in 1990 and together they shared many years of memories travelling. They travelled to a number of different destinations in Mexico before purchasing their winter home in Guayabitos, Mexico. After 8 years, they sold this place and purchased their home in Naples, Florida, and later Venice, Florida. While they spent their winters at these homes, their travelling included Riverboat and Ocean cruising, visiting a long list of destinations, China being Al's most memorable. Their home in Eugenia, which became their permanent summer home after retirement, was their own piece of paradise. They spent many hours with family, especially the grandkids, enjoying time together. This was by far his favourite pastime. He had a passion for baseball, playing slow pitch in his younger years and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. Al had a lifelong love of motorcyles, a major accomplishment was building his BSA from a box, but his passion was riding his 1999 Harley RoadKing. Al and Nancy loved to cruise around together. If he wasn't driving a bike, he was often fixing one up in the garage. His presence will be greatly missed in his community and family. The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Thursday, August 29, from 12:30 until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Celebration of life follows. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
