I could see where the humor was in its time but also how that time had mostly passed. I had a very similar experience showing my wife a George Carlin special from a similar era and decades removed from its original release, it just didn’t inspire her to laugh from where she was sitting today.

great commentary Josh, highly insightful.
I’ve also had these experiences watching Eddie Murphy‘s “delirious” not too long ago, and I watching my wife get taken back by how homophobic and insensitive the comedy was.
Then showing her Bill Cosby ( “himself“ which had us hysterically laughing
(Karen, my wife, was not open to watching Cosby at first…she had to put aside the horrid truth of what was happening in Cosby’s life at the time.)
The dentist trying to talk to you as he’s got metal in your mouth.
Raising children after being married “intellectual’s“…To becoming parents, which we just recently had also.
We were relating Cosby’s routine, the topics that were relevant today. Again, we were just in stitches.
i’m would like to see this, Richard Pryor live on the sunset strip, again now just based on Todd’s review and this conversation alone.
