Comment on The performance of morality in immoral times by Claire Mortimer

Excellent essay, Shay.
You express many thoughts going on in my mind, and I suspect going on in many people's minds.
I can not stop thinking of the horrific violence inflicted on Palestinians, funded with our tax dollars.
If we were to refuse to pay those taxes, we would go to jail.
Refusing to pay for genocide and ethnic cleansing is deemed immoral and illegal in this society.
Violence in schools, violence in the workplace, violence in healthcare settings - these were all unthinkable when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's.
But the real violence was hidden from view.
Microaggressions and harassment were and still are commonplace for people of color.
Sometimes it feels like no real progress has been made.
