The second Hassles album, Hour of the Wolf, was more than just Billy Joel co-written songs as after Dizek left, he was pretty much front and center both as performer and song writer. In fact the second Hassles album features Joel so prominently one could say that it is his unofficial solo debut. Much like the Attila album, I don't think Joel is too happy with this album, although it is far better and far more refined than Attila's heavy metal-esque approach (also he should cut himself some slack as he was 19 when this was recorded and pretty damn impressive for his age). There are some inklings of what he would produce as a solo artist here and there (in particular the ballad "Night After Day"), but with significant psych-prog leanings. Really the worst that could be said about it is that it is a product of it's time. Joel's particular phrasing, chord progressions and other key aspects of his style are here in embryonic form.
