A funeral service for George William Crawford, 64, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Michael George officiating. He will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin Tuesday, February 18, 2025, and family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. George was born on December 16, 1960, to Thomas and Patricia Crawford in Palestine, Texas and went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2025. George dedicated 40 years of his life to serving the City of Jacksonville, Texas. He began his career in 1986 as a meter reader and worked his way up to the position of Water Production Manager. A loving and devoted family man, George was affectionately known as Daddy, Pawpaw, and Geege. He lived life to the fullest and loved adventure, particularly enjoying driving fast, hunting, and playing poker. His hunting expeditions took him all over the world, including Africa, Canada, Idaho, and Kansas. In addition to his love for the great outdoors, George was an avid poker player. His skills led him to participate in the Las Vegas World Tournament in 2009 and he enjoyed his weekly local Friday Night Poker Club. Known for his generosity and kind heart, George always gave without expecting anything in return. His legacy of love, adventurous spirit, and selflessness will forever be cherished by his family and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gloria Gates; and brothers, Mike Crawford and Thomas Wayne Crawford. Left to cherish George's memory are his loving wife of 18 years, Jan Crawford; daughter, Courtney Leigh-Ann; sons, Blake and wife Jessica, Cody and wife Sarah, Colton and wife Jacobi, and Chase and wife Charity; and sisters, Tammy Lewis and Tina Bolton. George is also survived by his grandchildren, Timothy, Colby, Kylee, Connor, Brielee, Remy, Laylinn, and Parker; great-grandchild, William; bonus sisters, Brenda Pepin and Cathy Merriwether, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be James Worley, David Rider, Randal Chandler, Skip Glover, Buddy Starlings, Stewart Hendricks, and Dave McClendon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Timothy Treadwell, JT Lewis, Chase Holder, Colton Holder, Cody Carroll, and Blake Carroll.
