Stephen "Steve" Anthony Eckert, age 50, of Palestine, Texas, was born on August 25, 1974, in Butler, Pennsylvania, and entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Visitation will be one hour before the service. He will be laid to rest at Corine Cemetery in Jacksonville. Steve was not just a talented journeyman lineman; he was a man of integrity, compassion, and unwavering faith. His journey through life was marked by his commitment to his work, where he dedicated himself to service and excellence. He took pride in his craft, knowing that he was contributing to the well-being of his community. This profound sense of duty also translated into his everyday life, as Steve consistently demonstrated a willingness to extend a helping hand to those around him. Preceded in death by his parents, Steve leaves behind a loving family that includes his beloved wife, Stephanie Eckert, who was his partner in every adventure and challenge. He was a proud father to his son, Caleb Eckert, and his daughters, Caitlin (Bear) Brandenburg, Haley (Joseph) Schoolcraft, Sarah (Ryan) Doyle, and Lauren Welch. Steve cherished each of them deeply, nurturing their dreams while instilling in them the values of kindness, responsibility, and community. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren: Leighton Schoolcraft, Maggie Pyle, John Luke Schoolcraft, Levi Schoolcraft, Emmalie Doyle, and his precious newborn grandson, Benjamin Ridgley.
