Firefighters, police, and paramedics descended on the river in Hereford overnight after they were called to the rescue at 3.15am today (September 23). Emergency crews could be seen by the river this morning, with reports that the Victoria Bridge had been cordoned off overnight, and of a helicopter seen searching in the area. A fire service spokesperson said three Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Hereford, Ewyas Harold and Fownhope Fire Station were called to a rescue from water at Victoria Bridge. They were joined at the river by Hereford’s water first responders, the boat crews from Hereford and Worcester and the service drone from Ledbury at the scene.
