GENERALBy Rozainah Abdul Rahim KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- The National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) has voiced strong support for the Safe Internet Campaign (KIS), calling it a vital shield to protect students from cybercrime. NUTP secretary-general Fauzi Singon said the campaign, led by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), raises awareness on digital safety and teaches students how to safeguard personal information. He said KIS guides students to use the internet wisely, ethically and safely, noting that cybersecurity is a critical agenda in today’s digital world with students increasingly exposed to harmful content and scams. “Cyber threats are easily aimed at students who lack the knowledge and experience to handle such situations,” he told Bernama today. Regular seminars and dialogues in schools will make the campaign more effective, especially when parents can directly engage with MCMC,” he said.
