By BOB MARTINEagle Times StaffNEWPORT, N.H. — A jury found a Newport man guilty on multiple charges related to sexual assault of a minor who he was related to, and authorities say that he still faces firearm charges out of Strafford County that are pending. According to a joint statement by the Newport Police Department and Sullivan County Attorney’s Office, “after carefully considering all of the evidence,” Ryan Barbin, 42, was found guilty of Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault (Pattern); Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault (Incest); and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. In May of 2024 the department received a report of an alleged sexual assault of a child that was known by Barbin. On Friday, Newport Police Department announced that this week Barbin was tried in front of a jury of his peers, in a case prosecuted by Sullivan County Attorney Christine Hilliard and Assistant Sullivan County Attorney James Eager. Barbin is scheduled to be sentenced on July 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sullivan County Superior Court.
