By BOB MARTINEagle Times StaffCLAREMONT, N.H. ― A Sullivan County commuter bus caught fire on Thursday morning in the Walmart parking lot, with Claremont Fire Chief Jim Chamberlain saying that there was an electrical issue with the heating and cooling system.
According to Chamberlain, the Claremont Fire Department was toned to the Walmart Parking lot on Washington Street for a report of a 16-person commuter bus that was smoking heavily.
The tone came in at 11:23 a.m. and responding crews made it to the scene in less than a minute.
The fire was called in by the driver of the bus, and she was not injured, according to Chamberlain.
“It is, and has been, a productive week for the Claremont Fire Department,” Chamberlain said.
