CLAREMONT, N.H. ― There is an invasive variety of shrub called Burning Bush (Euonymus alatus). The berries on Burning Bushes lack the proper nutrition that North Eastern birds need. The city of Claremont removed two Burning Bush shrubs at the Claremont Visitor’s Center on June 6 and will be replacing them with blueberry bushes from Bascom Road Blueberry Farm on June 21. At 10 a.m., there will be a public planting of these blueberry bushes with the Claremont Conservation Commission in attendance. Bascom Road Blueberry Farm is located nearby in Newport and has shrubs for sale each May (pre-order required).
