Emergency services were called to Southend Lane at around 6.40pm on Saturday, September 20. The rider of the moped, a 25-year-old man, was treated for serious injuries but died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs. Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
