IC Launches “Hotspots” with Professors and Students to Spotlight Indigenous Frontlines of Climate ChangeLast Updated on September 17, 2025Intercontinental Cry (IC) Magazine today announces the launch of Hotspots, a new journalistic series created in partnership with Cherokee Professor Jeff Corntassel (University of Victoria), French-Brazilian Professor Manuela Picq (Amherst College), and their students.
As part of IC’s Indigenous Rights Journalism Partnership (IRJP), Hotspots will investigate the critical intersections of climate change, development, and Indigenous self-determination.
The Hotspots series reflects IC’s long-standing mission to amplify grassroots voices, challenge extractive narratives, and foster cross-disciplinary partnerships in journalism.
Coverage will range from the Arctic to the Amazon, exposing the structural injustices driving climate harm while highlighting Indigenous strategies for resilience and renewal.
Readers can expect the first stories in the Hotspots series to be published this fall.
