The comment came when a reporter asked Trump whether he thinks Nato should shoot down Russian planes if they enter Nato airspace.
When asked whether the US would support Nato in shooting down Russian aircraft, Trump said it would depend on the circumstances.
Following the meeting Zelensky said: “Trump is a game changer by himself.”Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said the UK is “ready to act” after Trump urged Nato countries to shoot down intruding Russian planes.
“We will speak of how to finish the war and security guarantees,” Zelensky said, thanking Trump for the meeting and for his “personal efforts to stop this war”.
Zelensky said Ukraine agreed with Trump’s call for European nations to further halt imports of Russian oil and natural gas.
