Mal Lanyaon was appointed NSW Police Commissioner on Tuesday, just a week before outgoing commissioner Karen Webb was due to formally step down. Until now, the career of Mr Lanyon, who had been seconded to the NSW Reconstruction Authority, has not been without its controversies.
