The US energy secretary has slammed the UK’s net zero efforts as a new report has predicted America’s decarbonisation will flounder with Donald Trump administration’s new policy outlook. Speaking with reporters during a visit to Brussels yesterday, 11 September, US secretary for energy Chris Wright described the UK’s decarbonisation effort as “heartbreaking.”He said: “The UK example is to me heartbreaking. A number of policies trampling on the rise of renewable energy in the US were brought in this summer as part of Trump’s One Big Beautiful Act. Wright continued in his discussion with reporters: “[The UK] has had the largest drop in terms of greenhouse gas emissions of any country in the world, 40%. “The first seven months of the second Trump administration and 119th Congress have seen the most abrupt shift in energy and climate policy in recent memory.
