Ambitions by nuclear reactor developers to build a whole fleet of small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced modular reactors (AMRs) have been announced by the UK Government, ahead of a state visit by US president Donald Trump.
“By bringing together advanced nuclear technology with the fast-growing digital economy, it will create thousands of high-quality jobs in construction, manufacturing and operations,” she added.
Nuclear regulations in the UK were already expected to change, with the final report of the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce expected soon.
Our partnership with X-energy marks a bold step forward in delivering advanced nuclear technology that is not only scalable and secure, but also vital to decarbonising industry and powering homes.
The energy resilience and national security of both nations depend on continued leadership and advances in energy and technology – the focus of this visit.
