SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)-- According to Salinas City Councilman Steve McShane, the rumored Amazon warehouse is no longer coming to Salinas. He said an Amazon developer took the project from the table due to "growing costs of construction." "I think we all know the cost of lumber and all of the development costs have just gone through the roof through COVID," said Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig. The proposed warehouse would have gone on an unused plot of land on Abbott Street and Harris Road. Plans for an Amazon warehouse are not completely off the table but the city will have to wait and see.
