Doctors said that 90 per cent of heart attacks are preventable with awareness and structured rehab programmes. Despite being a WHO Class 1A recommended initiative, cardiac rehab remains underused in India. Regional CEO of Apollo Hospitals, Telangana, Tejesvi Rao Veerapalli, said the run also featured fitness demonstrations, awareness talks and stories from heart survivors. Regional COO, Dr Rachapalli Reddyappa Reddy, said several heart patients who underwent rehab have now transformed their lives, even participating in marathons.
