As a result, water supply in 17 mandals of the district was affected. They recalled that when they staged a dharna on August 22, Mission Bhagiratha Chief Engineer Srinivas Rao assured them that the dues would be cleared within 15 days and paid one month’s salary. Because of the delay, the workers said they were facing severe financial difficulties and were unable to meet household needs. The workers requested officials to clear two months’ salaries by Dasara and the remaining dues by Diwali, but the officials were not willing to do so, Yadagiri said.
