Municipalities annual convention with the Minister of Agriculture and FoodSummerland is organizing a meeting of mayors and councillors from agricultural communities. The meeting is for representatives from British Columbia communities with more than 20 per cent of their land base in the Agricultural Land Reserve, and the purpose is to discuss issues of mutual concern. Municipalities annual convention, the discussion will be held with Lana Popham, the province’s Minister of Agriculture and Food. “Last year, it was agreed we would make greater headway on most issues by working together,” said Summerland mayor Doug Holmes. “As incorporated municipalities, we face significant growth and other pressures on our farmland that present challenges for supporting the integrity of the Agricultural Land Reserve and ensuring food is being produced on farmland,” he said.
