Man accused of strangling woman he paid for sex with cocaine

A Maricopa man was arrested this week after police say he strangled a woman he admitted he was in a sexual relationship with, in which he paid her with cocaine.
According to court records, 55-year-old Anthony L. Pinion was arrested Sept. 11 on charges of aggravated assault, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of narcotics.
Detectives arrested Pinion the next day in the Maricopa Meadows after stopping his gray Toyota Tacoma at Hogenes Boulevard and Starlight Drive.
In an interview with investigators, Pinion admitted to a physical altercation with the woman but denied strangling her, records state.
Court records also note that Pinion was previously arrested on March 12 for possession of illicit drugs for sale.
