Paws on the Doors was developed by the team behind the food hygiene ratings scheme, Scores on the Doors. The site offers information so residents can make informed decisions rather than relying on word of mouth. Under the Defra scheme, businesses rated two or three stars are meeting legal requirements, while those earning four or five stars are exceeding them. The council introduced the scheme at an event for licensed animal businesses, giving them an opportunity to learn more about the benefits for both their operations and customers.
