The Chalkland Revival project, led by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, has secured £152,028 in funding from the North Wessex Downs National Landscape’s Farming in a Protected Landscape programme. Carrie Starbuck, director of nature recovery at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Wessex and Combes Cluster facilitator, said: "We are thrilled to launch the Chalkland Revival project. "By combining practical action for species like the lapwing with innovative monitoring and collaborative planning for deer management, we can make a real, landscape-scale difference." In collaboration with the British Deer Society, the project will develop a Deer Management Action Plan to address the impact of rising deer populations on woodland regeneration and biodiversity. These will include workshops on habitat creation, deer management, and an end-of-project event to share findings and celebrate achievements.
