A highways improvement request was recently submitted to Marlborough Town Council calling for measures to stop large vehicles from using Silverless Street as a shortcut. This came after an incident in August when locals say an articulated lorry entered the road, heading from Kingsbury Street towards Herd Street. His request said: “Large commercial vehicles enter mainly from Kingsbury Street as a shortcut, often associated with High Street closures, endangering the facades and structure of listed buildings. “(There are) numerous cases of physical damage.”Nicolas Hayes, who owns a gallery at 42 Kingsbury Street, has previously lodged a similar request after his property was struck by a lorry. The latest request was supported by the town council’s planning committee at a recent meeting and will now be sent to the Local Highways and Footways Improvement Group for further consideration.
