Proms in the Park took place between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Saturday, September 20, with crowds flocking to the bandstand. Cllr James Ward explained that he led the organisation of the event, with the Civic Centre’s events coordinator Paul Weimar and the events team offering operational support. Cllr Ward described the evening as a “utterly fantastic” and a “remarkable event”. Cllr Ward continued by explaining explained that the staging of the event and its success are rooted in his ambition to fulfil his promise as councillor. “Within the first four months, I have put the bandstand back into use, put on three brass band concerts, including Proms in the park with lighting sound and championship band.
