EU Vegetable Production Rises In 2024, Fruit Harvests Decline

The EU saw a 6% year-on-year increase in fresh-vegetable harvests, to 62.2 million tonnes, in 2024 – from 58.8 million tonnes in 2023 – according to the latest data from Eurostat.
Several vegetables saw a year-on-year increase in production, including a 5% increase for tomatoes, to 16.8 million tonnes.
Carrot production increased by 6%, to 4.7 million tonnes, while onion harvests went up by 11%, to 7.0 million tonnes.
Fruit ProductionIn 2024, fruit harvests in the EU declined by 2%, to 24.3 million tonnes, compared to the previous year.
ADVERTISEMENTThe leading producers of fruits, berries and nuts were Italy (5.4 million tonnes), Spain (4.3 million tonnes) and Poland (4.1 million tonnes).
