Carrefour Belgium is enhancing its commitment to nutritional transparency by providing information on the added sugar content of its private-label products. According to the retailer, its efforts go beyond the legally mandated total sugar content displayed on pre-packaged foods in the EU. Customers are able to find this additional information on the Carrefour website, mobile app, and the collaborative platform Open Food Facts. ADVERTISEMENTOpen Food FactsTo address this, Carrefour Belgium has proactively decided to also make this information available on Open Food Facts, a database wherein the retailer already shares nutritional details. Since 2022, the brand has reduced 110 tonnes of added sugars in its products and aims to cut an additional 165 tonnes by the end of 2026, all while maintaining taste and quality.
