The rocket successfully deployed eight mock Starlink satellites in space before descending back to Earth. Having previously suffered a series of failures, SpaceX’s Starship rocket has successfully deployed the first round of its mock satellites into space. The Starship spacecraft then separated from the Super Heavy booster without incident and continued its ascent, reaching a height of almost 200km. The spacecraft then completed its first in-space objective, deploying eight mock Starlink satellites in the first successful payload demonstration from Starship. According to SpaceX, the launch was deliberately exposed to a stress test to gauge the performance of its heatshield and structure.
