US-headquartered financial services firm BNY Mellon is shutting its Cork office, affecting up to 200 roles at the branch. The branch’s closure isn’t expected until 2027, reports suggest, adding that office space will be made available for any remaining staff, with many possibly retaining positions at the company’s Dublin branch. The company hasn’t announced the exact numbers expected to be laid off, but it is estimated that around 200 people are employed at the soon-to-be-closed branch. A year later, the company moved its Dublin staff to a larger office space near the River Liffey. In January, BNY announced plans to close its Wexford office, a branch that employed 310 people.
