Vietnam Airlines has released plans to take on up to 30 Airbus A350-900 or Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in an official invitation to the aviation market. On September 22, 2025, addressing those “who it may concern,” Vietnam Airlines declared that it was looking to add multiple widebody jets to its fleet, for delivery between 2028 and 2030. Prospective partners have been asked to contact Vietnam Airlines with their proposals by October 8, 2025. Previously, Vietnam Airlines has discussed a fleet-building strategy for the next decade, with the aim of significantly bolstering its operational capabilities by 2040. According to ch-aviation, Vietnam Airlines currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320neos, A321neos, A321-200s, A350-900s and Boeing 787-s and Boeing 787-10s.
