Super Typhoon Ragasa has already wreaked havoc across the Philippines and Taiwan, bringing flood waters and power outages across the country.
Hong Kong Airport authorities have said that the airport is preparing to suspend all passenger flights for the 36 hours that the typhoon is expected to pass over the region.
Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific said on Monday, September 22, 2025, that it expected to cancel more than 500 flights as Super Typhoon Ragasa was forecast to hit the city.
This applies to confirmed Cathay Pacific bookings arriving in and departing from Hong Kong between 23 and 25 September 2025,” the airline added.
Officials in Hong Kong have said that they planned to stack sandbags and install flood barriers for some coastal villages near the city.
