Stringer has joined forces with former Volumes vocalist Yung Yogi for his new project, Self Checkout, and the pair have recently spent time in Mexico City recording new music. In February, The Amity Affliction officially parted ways with Ahren Stringer after a tumultuous 12-month period, with the band citing “certain behaviours” and a complete relationship breakdown. Following some back-and-forth posting on social media, in which Stringer confirmed he wouldn’t be touring with the band “for the foreseeable future,” he and his former Amity Affliction bandmates entered a legal battle over the group’s trademarks. Stringer and Yogi formed Self Checkout earlier this year, with the intention of exploring mental health stigmas through diverse musical arrangements that spanned heavy music and hip-hop.
