Gunshot detection alert leads Sikeston police to arrest man with stolen firearm

SIKESTON – A gunshot detection alert to law enforcement early Tuesday, Sept. 23 resulted in the arrest of a Sikeston man for his alleged possession of a stolen firearm.
Terrieon Jones, 19, of Sikeston is charged through Scott County with Class D felony stealing and Class E felony resisting or interfering with an arrest, according to Capt.
In the early morning hours Tuesday, officers with Sikeston DPS responded to the area of Alabama Street after receiving a gunshot detection alert from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system used by Sikeston DPS, according to Broom.
“Gunshot detection has been instrumental in helping our officers keep Sikeston safe,” Broom said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, Broom said.
