On this day in 1948, 15 Agua Dulce residents gathered to officially organize what would become the Agua Dulce Women’s Club, which remains a cornerstone of community life after more than 75 years. Originally founded as the Agua Dulce Mother’s Club to support the local school, members voted on Sept. 23, 1948, to reorganize and rename themselves the Agua Dulce Women’s Club. In 1949, member Opal Sciarra and her husband Ben donated land on Agua Dulce Canyon Road, where the clubhouse finally opened in April 1951. Today, the Agua Dulce Women’s Club continues its mission of community service, philanthropy, and scholarship while preserving its historic clubhouse as a hub for local life.
