New commercial director Adam Andrews revealed that talks were already "actively underway" with airlines. A key focus of Mr Andrew's plans will be to link East Midlands Airport to a "major hub" airport in Europe to give passengers a one-stop connection to more destinations. Currently, the airport brings passengers to around 70 destinations in Europe and North Africa, increasing during peak seasons such as summer holidays. Plans have also been put in place to increase flight options outside traditional peak seasons, giving people who are looking for an off-peak holiday more options.
