Councillor Steve Hassall, city council Conservative group leader, called the decision to remove flags "gesture politics". Reform UK Councillor Alan Graves, who as well as being a city councillor is also leader of Derbyshire County Council, said: "I am sorely disappointed with Councillor Sarah Chambers. The council has said that any flags left up after next Monday will be stored at Derby City Council.
