Many of these households were sent within Oxfordshire, with 160 being sent to South Oxfordshire, 31 being sent to Cherwell, nine being sent to Vale of White Horse and one being sent to West Oxfordshire. But an increasing number of households are being sent further afield, with 45 being sent to High Wycombe, 34 being sent to Reading, and two being sent to South Buckinghamshire. Oxford City Council say that reducing the number of households sent outside Oxford is a key priority, but that they are increasingly having to use budget hotels outside the city to meet demand. No one was placed in temporary accommodation outside Oxfordshire until 2023/24. The city council recently approved proposals to converting four derelict buildings in the city into affordable housing, with some of these homes being dedicated to temporary accommodation.
