Karunaratnam along with some others founded the North-East secretariat on Human Rights called NESOHR.Among founding members were former TNA parliamentarians Joseph Pararajasingham. It did not concern itself with human rights violations perpetrated by the LTTE.Fr. Apart from attending Human Rights Council meetings in Geneva he also engaged in full scale lobbying. There was a time when the NESOHR openly stated that they were willing to co-operate with reputed Human Rights Organizations. These were largely unreported in the mainstream media and by reputed Human rights organizations.
